Information that we collect

We collect our information from what you supplied to us when you registered. Other information we collect happens through the use of CrunchYard’s services. This information includes:

  • Device information
    We may collect device-specific information (such as your hardware model, operating system version, unique device etc.). This is for Google analytics purposes.
  • Log information
    Activities on the website are tracked and logged for audit purposes. An IP address/s is included. Your physical simulation file is not stored with the log information.
  • Location information
    We keep track of IP addresses of users that visit the site.
  • Cookies
    Our site makes use of cookies. These cookies are used for the website to function and not used to track you when you are away from the website.

What we do with the information

We do not share the information we have about you to anyone outside of CrunchYard. The information is used internally to improve and optimise the website in order to give you a better quality experience.

We will also send you the occasional email to keep you up to date with CrunchYard’s developments. The email will provide you with the ability to unsubscribe from the newsletter.

Accessing and updating your personal information

Only some of your personal details will be accessible to you for update purposes. If you would like to update your email, contact CrunchYard in order to get it done. Your email could be tied to credits or applications that may or may not be accessible when your email changes.

Information that we share

We do not share personal information with companies, organisations and individuals outside of CrunchYard unless one of the following circumstances applies:

  • For external processing
    We provide your information to trusted websites that form part of CrunchYard’s business processes. We are guaranteed by the trusted websites that you information is secure and will stay confidential and that the necessary security measures are in place.
  • For legal reasons
    We will share personal information with companies, organisations or individuals outside CrunchYard if we have a belief in good faith that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to:
    • meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request.
    • enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations.
    • detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues.
    • protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of CrunchYard, our users or the public, as required or permitted by law.

Information security

We work hard to protect CrunchYard and our users from unauthorised access to or unauthorised alteration, disclosure or destruction of information that we hold. In particular:

  • Our website makes use of SSL and passwords are encrypted.
  • Payments happen through PayPal and no local copy of credit cards information is stored.
  • We review our information collection, storage and processing practices, including physical security measures, to guard against unauthorised access to systems.
  • We restrict access to personal information to CrunchYard employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to process it for us and who are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations. They may be disciplined or their contract terminated if they fail to meet these obligations.

Enforcement

When we receive formal written complaints, we will contact the person who made the complaint. We work with the appropriate South African regulatory authorities, including local data protection authorities, to resolve any complaints regarding the transfer of personal data that we cannot resolve with our users directly.

Changes

Our policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without your explicit consent. We will post any policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of policy changes). We will also keep prior versions of this policy in an archive for your review.
